Abstract

An optimal input design method for the identification of SISO continuous-time transfer functions is presented. The proposed method is a modified version of a previous work which is an extension of Antoulas et al. The previous requires filters to obtain the derivatives of input and output signals, and the optimality of these filters was pointed out. To solve this problem practically, this paper proposes a method based on Fourier series expansion. A summation of sine waves is used for signal representation. The optimal input is designed by a numerical optimization using the representation. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through simulations.
