Abstract

We present an FFT-based block sequential least squares adaptive FIR equalizer for terrestrial HDTV broadcasting. This equalizer provides fast convergent rate as well as good numerical stability. Of great significance is its drastic reduction in computational complexity by means of efficient FFT technology and block operation. Simulation results show that the equalizer achieves almost 2.5 dB SNR improvement at a bit error rate of 3/spl times/10/sup -6/ with almost the same computational complexity relative to the LMS decision feedback equalizer (DFE) recommended by the Grand Alliance.
