Abstract

Satellite network communication has the features of long propagation delay, high bit error rate (BER) and bandwidth asymmetry [1]. Through analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of existing file delivery protocols, we propose Full-load File Delivery Protocol (FFDP) based on periodically requesting negative acknowledgement and retransmitting lost data packets timely. Theoretical analysis and experimental test reveal that FFDP can effectively utilize link bandwidth to transfer file reliably in the link with a long propagation delay, high BER and bandwidth asymmetry.
