Abstract
In this study, ultrathin MoSe2 (Mo–MoSe2) was prepared by a jet cavitation process. XRD, SEM, TEM and AFM were carried out to study the crystal structure, surface morphology and lateral size distribution of bare MoSe2 and Mo–MoSe2. The corresponding electrochemical measurements, including charge/discharge tests, cyclic voltammetry as well as AC menace and cycle life tests of bare MoSe2 and Mo–MoSe2 are also carried out. The results indicate that the reversible capacity of bare MoSe2 and Mo–MoSe2 are 453 mAh g−1 and 496 mAh g−1, respectively. The rate capability tests show that the charge and discharge capacities of Mo–MoSe2 under 5C and 10C are 381 mAh g−1 and 325 mAh g−1, respectively, which was much higher than those of pristine one for 163 mAh g−1 and 129 mAh g−1. The above results indicate that Mo–MoSe2 demonstrate excellent reversible capacity, stable cycle life and good rate capability. These results indicate that the as-synthesized few-layered MoSe2 is a potential candidate for lithium ion battery applications.
