Abstract
I read with considerable interest the article by Dr. J. G. B. Russell and Dr. Margaret R. C. Aird in the British Journal of Radiology of July 1976 on the above subject. It has been my experience over several years that hyperextension of the cervical spine of the fetus in the antenatal radiograph is sometimes associated with the presence of the umbilical cord being wound round the fetal neck and it may well be a cause of fetal distress during labour.
