There were no differences in fertility rates between the two protocols for freezing extender removal, what indicates that both were equally efficient in eliminating the toxic substances, and no differences were found in sperm quality. However, average sperm yield was a 25% lower for colloidal centrifugation than for filtration. Further studies are needed in order to determinate the selective effect of this type of procedures over a wider number of spermatic parameters and its relation with fertility. These procedures need to be further investigated and confirmed with cryopreserved semen and in a broader number of animals.
