Abstract
Single crystals of SbNbO4, SbTaO4, BiNbO4 and BiTaO4 were obtained by the hydrothermal method. Ceramic samples of these compositions and of the compositions BiSbO4 and BiVO4 were synthesized. X-ray analyses of these materials showed that all of them have the stibiotantalite structure. The temperature dependences of the dielectric, pyroelectric and nonlinear optical properties were investigated. It was established that besides SbNbO4 and SbTaO4the other materials under investigation were also in a spontaneously polarized state. The Curie points of SbNbO4 and SbTaO4 proved to be higher than previously supposed. The character of the phase transitions below Tc was elucidated.
