Abstract
Electron paramagnetic resonance of the ammonium free radical was used to study the ferroelastic transition of LiCsSO 4 at 202 K. The number of the magnetically inequivalent sites of the ammonium free radical doubles that allowed by the monoclinic lattice below the transition temperature, and this implies that the free radical can take up more orientations than that allowed by the lattice point-group.
