Abstract

We compute the first nontrivial quantum corrections to both the effective potential and the kink mass due to the fermions in a specific nonlinear field theory in one space and one time dimension. We find that the fermion contributions are of the opposite sign to the boson contributions, and tend to stabilize the abnormal vacuum and the semiclassical kink solutions. (AIP)
