Abstract

Energy spectra of Compton-scattered X-ray from Li metal have been measured at high pressure using synchrotron radiation. Compton profile J(q) was obtained from the observed energy spectra. It was found that J(q) was affected by the application of pressure and the Fermi momentum qF deduced from J(q) increased almost linearly with increasing pressure below 2 GPa. The pressure coefficient of qF, qF-1∂qF/∂P, was estimated to be 3.8×10-2 GPa-1, which is in good agreement with that obtained from the free electron model, 3.3×10-2 GPa-1.
