Abstract

Conditions going into the winter are mixed for natural gas and electricity markets. The US natural gas market is amply supplied, with production continuing to break records. Following last winter's polar vortex, natural gas pipelines, electric utilities, regional transmission organizations (RTOs), and independent system operators (ISOs), as well as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), have taken a number of measures to improve system reliability.
