Abstract
Aldehydes have been used in a one-pot reaction with enolizable ketones, acetonitrile, benzonitrile and acetyl chloride in the presence of FePO 4 at room temperature to form the corresponding β-acetamido ketones in very good yields. Three new compounds and rare β-amido ketones are reported additionally. The use of readily available FePO 4 as a catalyst renders this process quite simple and convenient .
