Abstract

Fenretinide is a synthetic retinoid analogue with decreased toxicity compared with other retinoids. It is a differentiation-inducing agent that promotes apoptosis in a variety of tissues and cell types. Our previous work indicated that RA production in endometriotic tissue is reduced relative to the healthy endometrium, resulting in blunted estrogen metabolism. Here we test the efficacy of fenretinide for increasing apoptosis in human endometriotic cells (OSIS) in vitro.
