Abstract

The basic considerations underlying the optical-correlation spectroscopic technique and the linear-prediction procedure for analysing the data are reviewed. Femtosecond quantum beats in dye molecules corresponding to molecular vibrations in the time domain have been observed for the first time. The rates for various intraband relaxation processes in GaAs and related compounds and structures were measured using the transmission-correlation technique. These results are summarized and discussed.
