Abstract

Introduction: Gender differences in organ function and survival have been described in animal models of trauma and hemorrhagic shock.1 Survival rates remain extremely low in trauma patients who exsanguinate to cardiac arrest (CA) despite improvements in resuscitation techniques and surgical management. We evaluated gender differences in survival and organ function in hypovolaemic CA and subsequent cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
