Abstract

Female genital cosmetic surgery (FGCS) is an overarching term that is used to describe a range of procedures aimed at ‘enhancing’ female genital appearance and/or function. These interventions are performed mainly for cosmetic reasons although some procedures (principally labiaplasty) can be medically indicated. The demand for FGCS has increased over the last decade, not limited to adult alone but also in young adolescent girls.
