Abstract

The lepidopteran sex pheromone Z-7-dodecenyl acetate specifically attracts male Scirtes orbiculatus beetles in large numbers. In trials over five seasons carried out at different locations near Urbana, Ill., no beetles were caught in traps baited with equivalent quantities of six closely related synthetic acetate esters of C12 to C18 unsaturated alcohols, or with an epoxide, synthetic racemic disparlure.
