Abstract

Polymer composites are getting in demand because of their low weight, flexibility and high mechanical strength nearly same as metals and their alloys. As these materials are sophisticated, a small change due to defect like crack can influence the mechanical and electrical properties which in result eventually leads to failure of component. In this work, the stress and deformation behaviour of the PVDF/CNF and PVDF/CNF/IL polymer composites are studied for sensing applications based on finite element analysis. The obtained results show that IL helped in improving the mechanical strength and reduces the chances of deformation as IL plays the role of interface linker and improves the intermolecular interaction. This study can help in detecting the safe working condition for the polymer composites and being flexible they are used for the various applications of soft devices, sensors, actuators and for smart materials.
