Abstract

Electromagnetic-vibration-acoustic coupling simulation based on 3D FEM simulation was carried out to predict the noise under the load condition of a shunt reactor. Electromagnetic forces such as the Lorentz force, magnetostriction and the Maxwell force were identified as major excitation forces. Not only the structure of the shunt reactor, but also the insulating oil and acoustic field areas were considered in the finite element model, and appropriate boundary conditions were applied. For the 10 MVAr/132 kV class shunt reactor, the overall noise levels were compared between measurement and simulation, and exhibited an error of less than 3 dB. Additionally, it is confirmed that the simulated noise radiation characteristics were well matched with real noise radiation characteristics.
