Abstract
Background: The training pathway in maxillofacial surgery results in a certificate of completion of training (CCT). Whilst for many the next stage would be attaining and undertaking a consultant post, some trainees consider the opportunities afforded by fellowships, which can be both formal and informal opportunities, to address issues of deficiency or to consolidate and acquire new skills prior to a definitive consultant post.
