Abstract
Abstract This article tries to examine the way in which Gregory the Great made use of some topics of his admired model Augustine within his own world towards the end of the sixth century under the emperor Justinian and his successors. It is intended to show that Gregory's handling of the Augustinian theology is not a simplification for the uneducated of the early Middle Ages but quite a sophisticated application and further development for those people who read and knew the important writings of the great Augustine.
