Feeding a third millennium BC mega-site: Bioarchaeological analyses of palaeodiet and dental disease at Marroquíes (Jaén, Spain)

Abstract

• C and N results reported for sample from Spanish Copper Age site of Marroquíes. • Individuals consumed a largely terrestrial diet of C 3 plants and animal protein. • Inter-individual variability in protein consumption is related to age. • Significant differences in hypoplasia and calculus between mortuary areas. • Marroquíes conforms to dietary pattern at other Late Prehistoric sites in Iberia.
