Abstract

In order to maintain a constant triglyceride composition in the effluent from a microaqueous bioreactor using filamentous fungus immobilized within Biomass Support Particles as a lipase catalyst, a feedforward/feedback controller with an on-line enzyme activity estimator and a state estimation controller based on a linear Kalman Filter were developed. Both simulation and experimental studies proved that the above systems successfully controlled the glyceride composition of the continuous interesterification reaction of fats and oils.
