Abstract

Wind energy is now playing a very important role in the electrical power supply. With growing shares, the focus of the plant control is shifting from maximum power point tracking to also meet grid friendly aspects, like stable output power. This paper analyzed the power flow of wind power generation system equipped with permanent magnet synchronous generator. Wind torque feed-forward control based on optimal tip speed ratio principle is then proposed to smooth the output power of wind turbine. A linearity analysis is also used to show the system performance improvement. Simulation results proved that the proposed control method could reduce output power fluctuation while keeps the maximum power point tracking ability.
