Abstract

We show in this paper how interpolation methods can be used in intro ductory feedback control courses for the analytic design of compensators. In partic ular we show how interpolation with units (BIBO stable functions whose inverses are also BIBO stable) can be used to design stable compensators, and how inter polation with BIBO stable functions (Q-parameterization) can be used to design unstable compensators when necessary. The mathematics required is very simple. The only major concept required is that of a BIBO stable transfer function.
