Abstract
A hybrid process development for the microbial production and recovery of the aromatic amino acid L-phenylalanine isp resented that isp art of a BioRegio project (0311644) of the Institutes of Biotechnology 1 (IBT1) and 2 (IBT2) and the DSM Biotech GmbH company. Using a recombinant E. coli production strain (4pF20) a fed-batch fermentation process is developed and optimised, leading to final L-phenylalanine titres > 30 g/l on 300 ls cale. L-phenylalanine is recovered selectively during fermentation via reactive extraction with a maximum extraction rate of 110 g/h (final purity >98 %). A modelling approach for reactive-extraction is presented.
