Abstract

Caries and inflammation of the gums are one of the most common diseases in the world, they are diagnosed in both children and adults. According to the World Health Organization, dental pathology is not inferior in prevalence to cardiovascular disease, and in some cases can also have serious consequences. The profession of a dentist has been known to the world for a very long time; archaeologists find the remains of teeth with traces of drilling and filling in the remains of people whose age is several thousand years. It was found that initially shamans were engaged in dental treatment; various medicinal herbs and spells were used for this. In ancient Egypt, this profession was very common and in demand; it is the Egyptians who are credited with the invention of the prototype of a toothbrush and tooth powder — crushed shells, ash and pumice were used for these purposes. It is believed that it was the Egyptians who first came up with the idea of binding teeth with gold wire and developed a composition for filling teeth. To date, the profession of a dentist is one of the most popular and widespread in the world, and in order to raise public awareness about maintaining dental health, it was decided to celebrate the International Dentist Day on February 9.
