Abstract

We report the development of iron-based metal organic frameworks (Fe-MOFs) for the effective simultaneous detection of metal ions such as Cd2+, Pb2+ and Cu2+ in aqueous medium via electrochemical method. The XRD pattern indicated that the synthesized Fe-MOF belongs to the family of MIL-101(Fe) MOFs. The SEM images showed that the formed Fe-MOFs possess the square-bipyramidal structure with enhanced dispersion with smooth surface. The functional groups corresponding to the terephthalic acid ligands have been confirmed using ATR-IR technique and the square wave voltammetry (SQW) technique is employed to detect metal ions with a response time <90 seconds.
