Abstract

The shaping of the Industry 4.0 model in industry requires the use of efficient carriers for information- gathering devices such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The purpose of the study is to identify the features of using UAVs to form the Industry 4.0 model. The study is based on a quantitative analysis of flight data for UAVs (in the Siberian Federal District of Russia), segmentation methods and market concentration assessment. The study demonstrated that a significant number of long-term flights of heavy commercial UAVs (more than 7,500 flights with an average duration of 8-9 hours) are carried out in the district. The market for the provision of related services is highly concentrated. Several segments of the UAVs flight market have been identified. The most important of these are outsourcing services to oil and gas companies by a single-industry operator UAVs, services to a wide range of industrial users by a non-specialized operator UAVs, and the creation of their own divisions using UAVs. The research results can be used by operators and users of UAVs to develop strategic decisions.
