Abstract

AbstractA new method for the calculation of the critical point parameters and binodal of vapor‐liquid (dielectric‐metal) phase transition is suggested. It is based on the hypothesis that cohesion, which defines the main properties of solid state, also determines the properties in the vicinity of the critical point. Comparison with experimental and theoretical data available for metals, semiconductors and rare gases is made. (© 2016 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
