Abstract

ABSTRACT The specific features of the second harmonic generation (SHG) of tunable radiation of the flashlamp-pumped dye-lasers(FLP DL) were investigated. It was found that the energy density ofthe focused laser radiation at microsecond pulses of radiation should not exceed 15-20 J/cm2 for KDP crystals. The requirements to the main parameters of FLP DL- radiation for effective SHG were determined. Keywords: dye laser, flashlamp pump, second harmonic generation, tunable radiation, UVrange 1. INTRODUCTION Tunable sources of the UV-radiation are useful for many scientific researches such as non-linear optics, atom-fluorescent spectroscopy, biology, medicine, laser photo-chemistry, division of isotopes, etc. [1—5]. Nowadays direct oscillation of the tunable emission is limited to wavelength longer then 330 nm. Intensive frequency-tunable light sources at even shorter wavelengths have been realized by the second harmonic generation (SHG) of dye lasers (DL [3- 5]. Many researches were carried out to optimization of SHG from radiation of pulse-periodic (PP) DL that pumped bycoherent radiation (PCR) of other lasers [3]. It is necessary to note that the choice of optimum parameters of nonlinear-
