Abstract

The possibility of retrieving vertical profiles of atmospheric turbulence from measurement data on local slopes of the wavefront is discussed. Estimates of characteristics of wavefront distortion amplitudes are presented for different atmospheric layers. Positions of the boundary of the atmospheric layer whose total contribution to the maximal angles of the light arrival corresponds to the average jitter formed by turbulence throughout the atmospheric depth are found.
