Abstract
The article shows that in the harsh natural and industrial conditions of the cryolithozone forests associated with extremely low temperatures in winter, heavy loads on the transmission and crawler during various forestry operations in the warm season, a reliable and efficient lubrication system is necessary. For this, natural serpentinite is best suited, which, like a hydrogel, absorbs transmission oil, and getting into the friction zone, begins to release it. It is determined that the money savings associated only with an increase in the durability of the caterpillar propulsion joints, due to the use of serpentinite, for one tracked forest tractor by 35 %, will amount to 3,450 rubles.
