Abstract

The Chelyabinsk LL5 and NWA 869 L4-6 meteorites were studied by X-ray diffraction, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Different features of the metal structure such as plessite structure, Neimann bands and metal-troilite eutectics were observed. Inclusions of metallic copper were revealed in Chelyabinsk LL5 and NWA 869 L4-6 mainly associated with metallic Fe-Ni and troilite phases. The copper inclusions were considered to be formed by decomposition process from the taenite solid solution during slow cooling.
