Abstract
The paper presents the goddess worship in Sa Dec city, Dong Thap province, which is presented in four main goddess cults: The Lady of the Realm, Thien Hau Goddess, the Five Elements deities and Co Hy Goddess. Beside the common characteristics shared widely among goddess worship nationwide, the goddess beliefs in Sa Dec have strongly expressed two outstanding characteristics: hybridity and tolerance. Therefore, the preservation and promotion of the values of goddess beliefs in the context of global integration are currently becoming necessary and meaningful tasks for both governmental agents and public communities.
