Abstract

The article considers one of the fundamental types of system-forming and functional language relations - derivation, in the most complex area of its realization, namely, in the verbal aspectual sphere, where in the Slavic languages there is a close interaction of lexicon, word formation and morphology. The notions of modification and mutation in intraglossal word formation are analyzed in this paper. The greatest attention is paid to aspectual derivation. This issue covers not only the grammatical category of species, but also related word-formation categories, namely phasic- -temporal modes of verbal action. Slavic verbal type is considered in the article as a derivational morphological category. The role of species pairing for aspectual derivation in general is shown, and the parameters of species pairs are determined. The importance of the functional criterion in determining the species pairs and the fact of the expansion of species correlations in Russian is explained on the basis of M. V. Panov?s theory of species antinomies. The article summarizes and develops the research into the category of aspect and aspectual derivation, conducted by the author of the article on the material of the Russian and other Slavic languages during the last decade, and outlines the prospects for the development of this line of research.
