Abstract

Governance groups, such as an independent board of directors, are the key to holding CEOs accountable for their performance. The author discusses how such groups can assist CEOs in setting goals and evaluating progress. Governance groups can also assess annual CEO performance and relate it to the compensation that the CEO receives.
