Abstract

In many parts of the world, the tire industry offers an effective measure to reduce CO2 emissions in the form of retread tires, which replace only the portion of the tire exposed to the road surface, but only for trucks and buses. However, due to safety issues and lack of manufacturing technology, retread tires for passenger cars are not currently available in Japan. The purpose of this study is to analyze the production cost and environmental impact of passenger car retread tires in Japan, taking into account the investment and cost of retread tires, which have lower profit margins than new tires once safety and manufacturing technology issues are resolved, and also factoring in carbon taxes, and the main objective of this study The main objective of this study is to provide a basis for determining the feasibility of the production ratio of retreaded tires to new tires for an optimal business portfolio.
