Abstract

Mixture of geopolymer obtained from the alkaline activation of matakolin (MK), boiler Ash (BA). Alkaline activation is a complex process involves the poly-condensation of reaction products and dissolution of raw material. Using an activators like potassium hydroxide (KaOH), sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate in percentage depends on the total binder (BA) weight. The mechanical, thermal, microstructural behavior of mixture is characterized. The boiler ash contain large amount of the unburnt material (16.36%), despite that they giving the great densified, homogeneous geopolymer gel. Alkaline activation of Ash-metakolin gives the formation of C-A-S-H and A-S-H gel. So the metakolin is partially replaced by the binder (BA) and M-sand used as a fine aggregate in in the ratio of 15% of total weight. The compressive strength, water absorption, FTIR, XRD and SEM are used to studied the properties of the geopolymer block.KeywordsGeopolymerBuilding blockBoiler ashMetakolin
