Abstract

Cavities are caused by the deterioration of the social infrastructure under the ground and cave-in accidents become the social problem. We investigate the cavity exploration technique before a cave-in occurs and it is necessary to prevent an accident. The conventional exploration techniques are not enough the depth and the resolution for the underground cavity size. In this study, we have developed the exploration system using cosmic ray muons to support the needs for the cavity exploration. The multi-channel muon teleccope and three-dimensional tomography technique are developed for the higher exploration efficiency. As a result, we can obtain the three dimensional underground visualization inside including the passage and the sewage pipe liken to the cavities.
