Abstract

The objective of this work is to study the feasibility and the design of a thermal solar cooling warehouse on a remote area like Hann fishing quay in Senegal. It will allow us to conserve three tons of fish for a daily operating time of 16 hours. This will allow the fishermen not to throw away their remaining fish at the end of the day or else to sell it at low prices. For the solar resource of the site, we used the meteorological center of the Center of Studies and Research on Renewable Energies (CERER) which is near to the fishing quay of Hann. The required cooling capacity is 8.385 kW. Based on forecast cooling capacity and meteorological data, we have determined the efficiency of solar thermal collectors, the area of the thermal collector field and the solar thermo-mechanical cooling efficiency.
