Abstract

The DiamondTemp (DT) radiofrequency (RF) ablation catheter (Medtronic, Dublin, Ireland) has been introduced for atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. It features 6 thermocouples at its tip, imbedded in a synthetic diamond material that offers high thermal diffusivity. The technology allows temperature-controlled ablation combining high ablation power levels with a direct temperature feedback consequently resulting in homogeneous atrial lesion formation.1 Recently, a novel wideband dielectric imaging system (KODEX-EPD, EPD Solutions, Philips, Amsterdam, The Netherlands) was introduced to guide catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmias.
