Abstract

We propose a promising range 990–1020 cm–1 of upwelling radiation for measuring O3 content in the atmosphere by a passive correlation method in the far IR region of the spectrum. The optimal ozone pressure in the correlation cuvet is 0.1 atm. The uncertainty in measuring the O3 content from a satellite is ~3% due to temperature fluctuations up to 2 K in layers of the atmosphere and a 10% change in CO2, H2O content in air.
