Abstract

Lattice-reduction-aided detectors (LRAD) for use in mobile communications, WiMAX, GPRS and data transmission are being developed to improve performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems. The performance of LR aided linear detectors approach maximum likelihood (ML) detectors without complexity issues. A study on various linear detectors is followed by nonlinear types. The paper then includes lattice reduction aided techniques that improve the BER performance. A complexity change is not noticed and considered applicable. The data rates and number of antennas is increased to search for processing time comparisons. In this paper, results are developed for both linear and nonlinear detectors with and without lattice reduction. We tested 4 × 4 MIMO to 128 × 128 (massive) MIMO for correlated Rayleigh fading channel.
