Abstract

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is used to characterize thin oxide/hydroxide films present on the surface of stainless steels after mechanical polishing and electrochemical polarization. In this work the XPS spectra of Fe10Cr and Fe15Cr were collected after mechanical polishing and sputtering in order to determine the fitting parameters of the two major alloy elements, i.e., iron and chromium.
