Abstract

FeCBSiP alloys with high Bs and amorphous-forming ability as well as good soft-magnetic properties were developed via component design and composition adjustment. Fe83C1B16−x−ySixPy alloys in the vicinity of Fe83C1B11Si2P3 exhibited high amorphous-forming ability and ribbons with critical thickness of 81μm were obtained made by single roller melt-spun method. The ribbon samples annealed under the optimal conditions displayed good ductility and good magnetic performance including high Bs of 1.61–1.68T, low Hc of 2.4–4.0A/m and high μe of 6000–10,000. The mechanisms of good magnetic properties, high amorphous-forming ability and good ductility for these amorphous alloys were also discussed. The integration of excellent soft-magnetic properties and good manufacturability makes the FeCBSiP alloys promising soft-magnetic materials for industrial applications.
