Abstract

This paper presents an investigation on the electromagnetic scattering from two-dimensional (2-D) rough surface. A finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) approach is used in this study, and the uniaxial perfectly matched layer (UPML) medium is adopted for truncation of FDTD lattices, in which the finite-difference equations can be used for the total computation domain by properly choosing the uniaxial parameters. The angular distribution of bistatic scattering coefficent from 2-D PEC Gaussian rough surface is calculated for different roughness and it shows good agreement with the numerical result by the Kirchhoff Approximation. Finally, the bistatic scattering coefficents versus scattered and azimuthal angle are presented and analysed for different conditions in detail.
