Abstract

The results of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) were compared with images of other modalities to survey the diagnostic value of FDG PET. Radiologic and isotope examinations were performed in 29 patients with a history of differentiated thyroid cancer and monitorized by serum tumour marker levels. The FDG PET scans were instrumental in localizing lymph node metastases particularly in cases with elevated serum tumour marker level.
