Abstract
O objeto do presente trabalho consiste na análise dos debates travados entre a República Argentina e a República Oriental do Uruguai e a decisão final proferida pela Corte Internacional de Justiça no caso conhecido como Fábricas de Celulose no Rio Uruguai. Os princípios gerais de direito ambiental são realçados, com atenção especial ao princípio da cooperação internacional acolhido no Estatuto do Rio Uruguai, subscrito pelas duas Nações em 1975.
