Abstract
Data on the species composition and ecology of horseflies in the study area are presented. The habitation of horseflies belong to five genera has been established. 25 species of horseflies were identified in the study area. Under favorable climatic conditions, there is an increase in the number of horseflies. The terms of activity and number of horseflies on pastures of cattle and horses were studied.

Summary
Установлено, что обитание слепней относится к пяти родам. При благоприятных природно-климатических условиях наблюдается увеличение численности слепней. Изучены сроки активности и численности слепней на пастбищах крупного рогатого скота и лошадей. Кровососущие двукрылые насекомые (гнус), к числу которых относятся слепни (Diptera, Tabanidae), причиняют огромный экономический ущерб. По данным ряда авторов в периоды интенсивного нападения слепней на животных прирост массы молодняка крупного рогатого скота снижается на 25-40%, а удои коров - на 15-44,5%.
